This past July I had the amazing opportunity to hang with the members of CT EO (Entrepreneurs Organization) for the action packed day at the Skip Barber High Performance Driving School. It is a magical feeling being able to push an automobile (that one would not normally have the chance to drive) to its absolute limits.
First we learned how to control a car under rapid braking. One interesting fact was that the vast majority of people do not use the full braking power of their vehicle in an emergency stopping situation. If you need to stop press the brake pedal down as hard as you can!
After that we went over to the small track to learn how to properly brake, maintain throttle and accelerate out of a corner.
The third station and most humbling was the wet skid pad. Here we had to try and maintain a car in a controlled slide (like drifting) and then correct. This is something that looks easy to do but in reality takes a lot of finesse.
To end the day we divided into teams and raced around the small track Le Mans style for time. Don’t forget that all of this was done in Porsche 911s, Lotus Elises, e9x BMW M3s, Mazda RX8s, and Lexus ISFs.
Oh, and how does this relate to business? In more ways than you would think. Watch the video to the end where we interview Skip Barber himself along with a few of the CT EO members.
You can attend Skip Barber Racing School at numerous race tracks around the US. It was by far one of the most exciting days of my life.
